Lois Higgins, 84, a longtime Grandview resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

Lois was born Oct. 11, 1928 in Bartlett, Neb. to Glen and Nellie McCain. She was the youngest of four girls with her sisters, Bessie, Faye and Donna.

Lois married Fred Higgins in 1948. They started their lives together in Grandview, where they worked a farm growing diversified crops and running a successful beef feedlot.

Lois loved to travel with family and friends and visited numerous countries such as Egypt, China, New Zealand and Israel. She also loved cooking and baking her famous pies for all of her family and friends.

Lois is survived by her sisters, Donna and Bessie; three daughters, Sandra (Farmer) (Fred) Joost, Desiree (Cliff) Anderson and Karen (Steve) Jensen; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other family members.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; and one sister, Faye.

Services for Lois Higgins will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, 1 p.m., at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.
