Ladies compete in 'best nine' play Tuesday

A three-way tie was claimed by Marilu Smith of Prosser and Sunnyside's Lucille Rohman and Rose Fleming in Black Rock Creek 18-hole ladies play this past Tuesday.

Because the back nine greens were being sanded, the ladies golf group toured the front side twice. Tuesday's contest was to select the best nine-hole round and factor in individual handicaps.

Smith, Rohman and Fleming each netted a score of 30.5. Rounding out the five low individual rounds were a 31.5 carded by Maryanne Currier of Prosser and a 32 by Sharon teVelde of Sunnyside.

The lone birdie on the scorecards Tuesday belonged to Wanda Stokes, who claimed the tweeter on the par-4, fifth hole. Smith had the only chip-in shot from off the green, that occurring on No. 6.
