Maricela Valdivia, 52, of Sunnyside passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2013, in Yakima.

Maricela was born Aug. 9, 1960 in Illinois to Abel and Trinidad (Reyes) Zarate.

She received her early education and graduated from Prescott High School with the class of 1978.

Maricela worked in agriculture and as an assistant at the AT&T Store in Sunnyside.

She enjoyed sewing, helping others, cooking, baking, giving advice, talking, reading, drinking Dr. Pepper and collecting angels.

In May of 2012 she married her long-time companion Juan Validivia.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser.

Maricela is survived by her loving husband, Juan Validivia of Sunnyside; her children, Albert (Heather) Rodriguez of Yakima, Robert (Vanessa) Rodriguez of Sunnyside and Krissy (Antonio) Soto of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; six grandchildren; and her siblings, Alejandro, Matias, Domingo, Aida, Enedelia, Francisco and Alma Rosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and five brothers.

Memorial mass will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser.
