City hires interim finance director

The Sunnyside City Council Monday night authorized an agreement with David Layden to work as the interim finance director.

The city has not had a finance director for six weeks. According to the summary of the agenda item, many aspects of the financial reporting and accounting system of the city are behind schedule due to a lack of appropriate expertise in the position for over a year.

Layden's contract is for $56.25 an hour, including temporary housing expenses. Layden is a retiree and is limited to 860 hours working for the city.
