A Sunnyside-area farmer is planning a two-hour class on constructing and developing raised garden beds.
Heavenly Hills Harvest, 762 S. Emerald Rd., will hold the class on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Merritt Mitchell-Wajeeh is the farm's owner and she said the program will be a "hands on" workshop that includes soil composition, choosing the right materials to construct raised beds and co-planting and succession planting for encouraging bio-dynamic growing success. Participants will also get to tour the farm, learning what her farm is doing to foster sustainable agriculture in the Yakima Valley.
Immediately following the two-hour workshop and tour, Mitchell-Wajeeh will provide a light "farm-fresh" lunch of greens and other items from her farm.
To register for the workshop/lunch, at a cost of $20, visit Heavenly Hills Harvest Permaculture at heavenlyhillsharvest.com or call Mitchell-Wajeeh at 840-5600.
