Heffron brothers compete at PGA junior tournament

KENNEWICK - Two brothers from Sunnyside, Adrian and Johnny Heffron, were among a 37-golfer field at a Central Washington Chapter of the PGA Junior Series event held at Kennewick's Tri-City Country Club this past Sunday.

Sunday's tourney is one of eight junior golf events being hosted by the local chapter of the PGA in 2013.

The eldest of the two Heffron brothers, Adrian, competed in the boys 13/14-year-old age division. He carded a 103 for a ninth-place finish from the 10 youngsters entered.

Brayden Pulver of Pendleton, Ore. and Carl Underwood of the Tri-Cities finished first and second, respectively, among the 13/14-year-old boys with scores of 78 and 79.

The younger of the two Heffron boys, Johnny, shot an 18-hole round of 111 on Sunday. He competed in the boys 10/11/12-year-old age division. The top golfer in that age grouping proved to be Dane Bednar from the small community of Albion, located between Pullman and Colfax. Bednar posted an 84 on his scorecard.

The lowest 18-hole round turned in Sunday was a 70, shot by Garrett Neswick of the Tri-Cities. He competed in the boys 15/16/17-year-old age division.
