Meeting this Thursday for Sunnyside educators looking to boost resumes

Area teachers looking for the opportunity for higher education are encouraged to attend an informational meeting at the Sunnyside School District administration office on Thursday, May 2, at 4:30 p.m.

The meeting will explain opportunities for teachers to earn a Master's degree in leadership and administration, the state required ProTeach certification, principal certification or a combination of the three through Gonzaga University's Master of Arts in leadership and administration program.

Gonzaga University has partnered with the Sunnyside School District for several years and a number of local teachers have gone through the program successfully. The teachers are able to study locally and online, with materials relevant to the work they are doing for the district.

Chuck Salina, program director for Gonzaga, said the program needs 15 local teachers signed up as a cohort to get started in the fall.

Potential applicants can learn more about the program and have questions answered at this coming Thursday's meeting.
