Tech plan looks to future school tech uses

GRANDVIEW - With an eye to the day when Grandview students will bring their own electronic devices to schools, the Grandview School Board last week approved the 2013-2016 Technology Plan during last Monday's night meeting.

That day is in the not too distant future, said Kristine Karctcher, district technology guru. In fact, the new plan also allows for the increased use of digital textbook consumption as well as increased online assessment in all subject areas.

She explained that the district's 2013-2016 technology priorities, in addition to improvements in the 21st Century classrooms, include increased support in content areas, online assessments, communication and district administration.

Karctcher said the district technology plan is designed to support teaching and learning in the Grandview School District.

The board's approval cleared the way for the district technological staff to pursue seeking funding for to support the necessary costs associated with the plan. The district hopes the plan will bring in $50,000 in revenue to the district over the next several years.
