Roberto Licea, 29, of Sunnyside was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to his abdomen shortly after being taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital yesterday morning (Sunday) at about 9 a.m. The two people who took the victim to the hospital were detained by Sunnyside police. The pair claimed that they had been attacked by gang members in a white car. However, police said they detected inconsistencies in their story from the outset and determined that the white car was a work of fiction, according to the Yakima County Sheriff's office. Detectives believe the pair made up the story of the attacking gang members and say that one of the two, a 31-year-old male from Outlook, actually fired the fatal shot. The suspect is being held at Yakima County Jail on murder charges. An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for Tuesday, according to deputies.
