Warmer August seen for Sunnyside

Temperatures in Sunnyside during August should be warmer than normal, but precipitation will likely be right about average for the month. That's according to the National Weather Service's preliminary data released last week. Normal day time highs for Sunnyside during August are 89.7 degrees and normal night time lows are 55.4 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 0.24 inches. Ironically, though the month of July seemed warmer than usual, the National Weather Service says it was slightly colder than normal. The average temperature was 72.6 degrees, which was 1.3 degrees below normal. High temperatures averaged 91.6 degrees, 0.9 degrees above normal. The warmest was 105 degrees on July 3. Night time temperatures averaged 53.6 degrees, which was 3.5 degrees below normal. The coolest night was 43 degrees, on July 14. On 16 days, the temperature in Sunnyside exceeded 90 degrees during July. The mercury reached triple figures - at least 100 degrees - on two days last month. There was no precipitation here during July, the weather service says. Normal precipitation for July is 0.14 inches. Precipitation so far this year has reached 4.98 inches, which is 0.97 inches above normal. Since October, the water-year precipitation at Sunnyside has been 9.75 inches, which is 2.93 inches above normal.
