Suspect named in Sunday's shooting

Anthony Scott Snyder, 31, of Outlook has been named as the suspect in a shooting this past Sunday morning that resulted in the death of Roberto Licea of Sunnyside. According to the probable cause affidavit, Snyder and Licea both belong to the same gang. Licea reportedly sent Snyder an angry text message after Snyder spent a day with a member of a rival gang. A witness claimed Snyder felt disrespected by the text message, according to the affidavit. The witness claims Snyder decided to rob Licea and contacted him to deliver some meth. The witness said he drove Snyder to the 60 block of G Street in Outlook for the drug deal. Officials say when Licea and a second witness entered the car, Snyder and Licea began to argue. Snyder allegedly produced a .38 revolver and told Licea to hand over drugs and money. The driver of the car claimed the second witness grabbed for the gun, which went off. The first witness said he then started to drive to the hospital but stopped twice, once to get rid of the gun and once for the second witness to exit the car. Licea died at the hospital and police took both the driver of the vehicle and Synder into custody. The witness provided a sworn statement of the events and led police to the victim's car and to the pistol. Police also took the second witness into custody. Police say he denied witnessing the shooting at first, but later changed his story. Snyder stuck to his original story that an unknown subject had fired a single shot from a moving vehicle into their car through an open window. Snyder faces charges of first degree murder and second degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
