The Sunnyside Housing Authority is requesting a zoning change for some of its property on Federal Way from moderate density residential to high density residential.
According to city planner Jamey Ayling, the housing authority plans to put between 56 and 66 additional low-income housing units into the area.
The area currently contains 25 housing units, a vacant community room, the office of the housing authority and vacant area to the north. All land involved is east of 16th Street, west of 13th Street, north of Federal Way and south of Yakima Valley Highway.
The Sunnyside Planning Commission will be holding a public hearing on the issue at its next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
