People interested in learning how to grow produce in their own back yards should sign up now for the Saturday, Aug. 24, raised bed workshop at Heavenly Hills Harvest Permaculture Farm and Education Center near Sunnyside.
The class, to be held from 10 a.m. to noon, will teach participants how to construct and plant a raised bed to extend the growing season well into the fall and winter.
This hands-on workshop will include soil composition, choosing the right materials to construct beds, co-planting and succession planting for encouraging bio-dynamic growing success and a farm tour outlining Heavenly Harvest’s efforts to foster sustainable agriculture in the Yakima Valley.
Immediately following the workshop guests will enjoy a farm fresh lunch of farm-grown produce. Cost for the workshop and luncheon is $20. Space is limited to 20 participants.
