Newly hired Sunnyside High School head volleyball coach Jordyne Jaquish has scheduled tryouts for next Monday, Aug. 26.
All ninth through 12th grade girls interested in playing volleyball for the Lady Grizzlies this fall need to be at the tryout session on Monday in the SHS gym, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Jaquish said athletes must be cleared through the high school ASB office before they’ll be allowed on the court. The ASB office, presently open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., has all the necessary paperwork athletes need to be cleared. She said the paperwork must be filled out and signed by the teens’ parents before next Monday’s tryouts.
The volleyball players also need to have a current physical examination form on file at the school, as well as an ASB card. The ASB cards can be purchased in the ASB office at a cost of $30.
Jaquish also notes that conditioning exercises in the SHS weight room and gym are ongoing this week, and are open to all girls planning to play volleyball this fall. The conditioning sessions are held from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
“They are optional, but they are good preparation for the season,” she said.
Jaquish said some of the paperwork athletes need to fill out to be cleared to play is being made available to the athletes at the conditioning sessions.
The new head coach also notes that this fall’s practices will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the high school’s main and auxiliary gyms.
