Sunnyside Mayor Jim Restucci introduced his mother, Gina Barry, who is visiting Sunnyside from Rocky Hills, Conn., to the Sunnyside Lions Club during its dinner meeting late last week. Barry, also a Lions Club member in her hometown, told of a trip she made to France in 2004 to reclaim the body of her father, Francis Joseph Lewis, who died on a battlefield near Paris during World War II. His body was buried near the battlefield unclaimed until early 2000. “The village leaders named a street after my father once they knew his name,” she said. Barry said she was very pleased to meet the members of the Sunnyside Lions Club.
