An argument about money for a marijuana buy resulted in a stabbing in the 800 block of Madison Drive late Tuesday night. That’s according to Sunnyside police.
Sunnyside police arrived on the scene to discover a victim with multiple stab wounds in the arm and abdomen. The victim reported his stepson, Emmanuel Rivera, had stabbed him following an argument in which the victim refused to give his stepson money to purchase marijuana, according to Sunnyside Police Information Officer Sgt. Joey Glossen.
The suspect was located at the residence and taken into custody. Glossen said officers arrested the 24-year-old Rivera on charges of assault first degree, domestic violence. The victim was transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
In a non-related case, police seized two marijuana plants from a back yard in the 100 block of Parkland Drive on Tuesday afternoon, when a neighbor reported seeing the plants growing in the yard. According to the officer at the scene, the plants appeared to be well cared for.
Police took into custody an adult female, who lived at the residence. Although she declined knowledge of the plants, police arrested her on a charge of manufacturing marijuana.
Police, too, responded a report of an injury accident in the 900 block of East Edison Avenue yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), when a vehicle struck a pedestrian in a wheelchair in the Ninth Street and East Edison Avenue intersection. The pedestrian was transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital.
Also during the past 24 hours, police made five traffic stops, investigated three reports of suspicious circumstances and several civil disputes, as well as three reports of theft. Police also provided one agency assist, served two arrest warrants, took one informational call and gave three citizen assists
