Antonette “Nettie” Cleveringa, 93, of Moses Lake and a former Sunnyside resident went to be with her loving Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2013, in Moses Lake.
Nettie was born April 4, 1920 in Lynden to Cornelis and Alida (Huesinkveld) VanWyk. She received her education at Lynden Christian School.
On Aug. 30, 1940 she married Fred Cleveringa and the couple made their home in Lynden until 1954. For a short time the family lived in Outlook and Union Gap before settling in Grandview, where they owned and operated a dairy farm.
Nettie worked for Prosser Pack-Twin City Foods for 15 years.
In 1967 Fred and Nettie sold the dairy and moved to Sunnyside and farmed grapes, asparagus and potatoes.
Fred passed away in 1986 and Nettie lived on the farm until moving to Sunnyside in 1987, where she resided until 2010.
She was an active member of the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church, volunteered at the Sunnyside CHORE Services, Sunnyside Senior Center and organized a once-a-month Christian fellowship night out for widows and widowers with devotion, dinner and games.
Nettie loved helping others, playing games or watching game shows, reading, crossword puzzles and last, but not least, watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events. She was their number one fan.
Nettie is survived by four children, Cindy (Dale) Warriner of Ritzville, Larry (Marilyn) Cleveringa of Prosser, Karen (Everett) Cooper of Batseville, Ariz., and Norman (Jane) Cleveringa of Zillah; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Sophia VanWyk of Lynden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; one grandson, Christopher Rutz; three sisters and three brothers.
