Hot chocolate contestants being sought

“We have prize money, but we need contestants,” said Eric Placzek, the marketing and sales manager at Sunnyside’s Best Western Grape Vine Inn.

The Grape Vine Inn is hosting an adult hot chocolate tasting and recipe contest with $750 in cash prizes available to the top hot chocolate chefs.

To encourage more hot chocolate-loving chefs to participate, Placzek said all entry fees have been waived and even tasters will be allowed samples of the alcohol infused hot cocoa drinks free of charge.

“But we need to know how many contestants we will have by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6,” Placzek said.

The hot chocolate contest will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 3:30 p.m., with tasting to begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Best Western Grape Vine Inn, 1849 Quail Lane, Sunnyside.

Interested participants are urged to pre-register for the contest by calling the inn at 836-6070.

Contestants only need to bring their ingredients, a cooking pan and their utensils.
