Conservation efforts started

The Sunnyside City Council this past Monday approved an agreement with the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services and McKinstry Consulting to work on energy conservation projects within the city.

McKinstry will conduct an audit to determine where the city can save money by replacing obsolete equipment. City staff believes replacing three blowers at the wastewater treatment plant and upgrading fluorescent lighting in city facilities will result in significant savings for the city.

The audit will determine how much work can be done with existing funds and with expected savings.
