Paying tribute

The third annual Wreaths Across America event in Grandview last Saturday was held in conjunction with a national ceremony to place wreaths at the graves of all military veterans. Inset Ginger Emerson, whose son died while serving in Iraq, spoke to the crowd. After the ceremony, wreaths were placed at the grave sites of about 400 local veterans at the Grandview cemetery. Local students and volunteers helped with the effort, such as Cathlin Schmitke from the Walmart Distribution Center in Grandview (above).
