Unattended car left to warm up stolen yesterday in Grandview

GRANDVIEW – For the second day in a row a car was reported stolen after being left unattended while it was warming up.

The 2012 Ford F150 was stolen from the 1000 block of Stassen Way yesterday morning (Monday).

“Every year we see an increase in vehicle thefts when the weather gets cold,” said Assistant Police Chief Mike Hopp. “Thieves look for unattended running vehicles. It is also illegal to leave a vehicle unattended and running and could result in a $124 ticket.”

Last night police also responded to a theft report from the 600 block of East Third Street. The victim reported a vehicle battery charger and an air compressor missing.

Officers also investigated a report of a vehicle prowl in the 600 block of East Second Street yesterday morning. Two vehicles were entered through apparently unlocked doors, but nothing was reported as missing.

Yesterday morning Grandview police also conducted a death investigation. The subject died from natural causes.

Since yesterday morning police have also handled two animal problems, a report of threats, an informational call, a report of disorderly conduct and two traffic issues.

In that time officers also investigated three reports of suspicious activity and provided an agency assist.
