Michael Dean Zecchino, 60, loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at home.

On Jan. 28, he was up in heaven having breakfast with his aunt Ginny, his dad and grandparents.

Mike was born July 5, 1952 to Leonard and Grace (Widmyer) Zecchino. He attended Granger School.

On June 24, 1972 he married Sharon Hendricks. Together they had three children, Christine Leanne, Cher Lynne and Matthew Patrick. Mike also shared several years with Donita Jordan and her children, Zack and Sarah.

Mike worked various jobs through his life, farming, building steel buildings in Chicago, Ill. working with fertilizers and other odd jobs.

He enjoyed helping out on the farm and of course giving his input on anything and everything.

Mike loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He also had a very special place in his heart for his great-nieces and great-nephews, Christian, Bryce, Mackenzie, Patrick and Isabella.

He enjoyed making things out of wood with his kids, grandkids, great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends. He was always coming up with something new for Grandma Grace to place out in her yard.

He enjoyed sneaking off to the casino with his brother Pat, son Matthew, and anyone else he could convince to go with him.

Mike loved to go on the annual camping trip to pick huckleberries. He always made sure to stop at the little store prior to getting to the camping spot to order his gallons of huckleberries to take home to grandma.

He enjoyed taking his family to the Satus picnics, jeeping and of course going to the pepper pot to have some of grandma's cooking in his earlier years. Mike was a big talker, always had a story to tell and a joke to be said. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile a mile wide.

Mike is survived by his mother, Grace Zecchino of Granger; his children, Christine (Leonard) Crouch of Zillah, Cher (James) Morrow of Sunnyside, and Matthew (Rose) Zecchino of Yakima; his grandchildren, Jordyn (Mike), Alexis, Ian, Hunter, Colton, Jack, Nathaniel, Matthew Jr., Alec and Xavier; great-grandson, Anthony; his brothers, Patrick (Kathy) Zecchino of Granger, Allan (Jackie) Zecchino of Vancouver and Tony (Shelly) Zecchino of Granger; his nieces and nephews, Diane (Jay) Luckin and Mercedes of Atlanta Ga., Valerie (Cory) Murphy of Sunnyside, Allan (Guadalupe) Zecchino of Granger and Tia Marie of Broken Bow, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Patrick and Filimina Zecchino and Pete and Vera Widmyer; his father, Leonard Zecchino; and his very special aunt, Ginny Hicks.

You will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. You were one of a kind. We love you and know that we will all get to see you again one day.

Mike's wishes were to be cremated and to have a big BBQ to celebrate his life. So please come honor him and share all the wonderful memories you have of him with his family and friends on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 3 p.m. at 1541 Longhouse Road in Granger.

Condolences can be sent to

Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in care of all arrangements.
