Maria L. Nicacio, 93, of Mabton has gone to heaven to be with our Lord on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in Yakima with her family by her side.

Maria was born on April 10, 1919 in Brownsville, Texas to Porfirio Lopez and Isuaria Resa.

Maria and her husband, Esteban Nicacio had eight children. They came to the Yakima Valley in 1942, where they settled in Mabton, and raised their two children, Cruz and Mary.

Maria was a devout Catholic member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Mabton, and of the Guadalupanos.

She is survived by her son, Cruz (Maria) Nicacio; daughter, Mary (Miguel) Leyva; grandsons, Cruz Jr., Francisco and Miguel Jr.; granddaughters, Angel and Irene; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren that adored their Tia (aunt); and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Esteban H. Nicacio; six children; three sisters, Alberta Dominguez, Josefa Ruiz and Domitilla De La Rosa; and her brother, Santiago Dominguez.

Maria is now united with our Lord in Paradise.

Viewing and visitation will be held today, Feb. 11, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, with Christian burial to follow at Mabton Cemetery.
