Not many people can lay claim to having bowled both a 300 game and notching a hole-in-one.
Sunnyside's Bob Hicks can go one better than that.
With a perfect 300 bowling game already to his credit, as well as a hole-in-one in the record books, Hicks picked up his second career ace this past Sunday, playing at Black Rock Creek Golf Course.
His latest hole-in-one came on the Sunnyside-area golf course's par-3 ninth hole. Using a 3-wood, his tee shot sailed over the pond that separates the blocks and the front-side fairway. His ball skipped onto the green and found the bottom of the cup.
Hicks' foursome this past Sunday included Rick Mitoff, and Troy and Carol Monholland.
Ironically, the hole-in-one he notched on Sunday closed out a front nine in which he was struggling. Hicks was sitting on a score of 48 when he stepped up onto the blocks on No. 9. The ace kept his front nine score out of the 50's.
Perhaps buoyed by the rare feat, Hicks slashed five strokes off his opening nine score, posting a 44 on the back side to hit the clubhouse at the end of his round with an acceptable 93.
