Esther Ornelas Rodriguez, 62, of Sunnyside passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Regional Hospital in Yakima.
Esther was born Nov. 28, 1950 in Little Rock, Ark. to Daniel and SanJuana Rodriguez Sr. She attended Sunnyside High School and college at YVCC.
Esther loved working with people. She'd help them achieve their career goals by addressing barriers and creating action plans.
She was employed at NRO, Washington Human Development, Housing Authority, People For People, OIC of Washington and GMC Training Institute. She retired in 2009. She was often praised for going above and beyond expectations.
Esther could not have shown that she loved her family anymore than she did already. She was a mother figure to her siblings. She could tell when something was wrong and was there to lend a hand, even when she wasn't feeling so well herself.
She enjoyed country cruising in her red Mustang convertible on a hot summer night, watching novelas with her siblings, sharing her joys in life with her grandchildren any chance she could get, shopping, dancing, getting ready for work, having lunch at her dad's on Sunday afternoons and receiving visitors throughout the week, listening to music and making flour tortillas
Esther is survived by her husband, Sabino Manuel Rodriguez; her children, Isabel Perez, Ermelinda M. Villarreal, Krystle M. (Kyle) Nading; her father, Daniel Rodriguez Sr.; her siblings, Raquel (Diego) Burgueno, Yolanda (Jose) Melendrez, Gloria (Abdon) Valdez, Diane (Conrad) Castro, Sylvia Rodriguez and Samuel Sanchez, Meadow (Anna) Rodriguez Sr., Robert Rodriguez, Ruben Rodriguez, David Rodriguez and Daniel (Pam) Rodriguez Jr.; grandchildren, Jose "J.J" (Sylvia) Garcia, Jorden Farias, Rhyen H. Macias, Alessandra Linda and Jhayden Espinoza, Kayla N. Nading and Izayah J. Padilla; great- granddaughter, Samantha P. Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
