16-year-old Grandview boys killed, another hurt in car wreck early last night

GRANDVIEW - Two Grandview teenagers were killed and another injured in an accident last night along Evans Road between North County Line and North Griffin roads.

The Benton County Coroner's office said that passenger Kevin Lopez-Gonzalez, 16, of Grandview died at the scene of the accident. Passenger Carlos Ochoa, 16, of Grandview was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, where he died approximately two hours after the accident.

According to Lt. Chuck Jones of the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the three teenagers were in a vehicle eastbound on Evans Road and passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed. Their vehicle failed to make the curve and came to rest almost vertical and upside-down against a tree.

According to the Prosser Fire Department, three people were in the vehicle when emergency services arrived. They were extracted from the vehicle by rescue personnel.

The driver of the vehicle, whom police have yet to identify, was transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital, then transferred to Kadlec Regional Medical Center where he remains in critical condition, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
