Assault of 2-year-old brings three-month jail term

YAKIMA - A Grandview man pled guilty to a charge of third-degree assault this past Tuesday and was sentenced to three months in jail.

The charge stemmed from an incident in late October 2012 in which Grandview police conducted a welfare check after receiving a third-party report that a two-year-old showed signs of abuse.

Police arrested Alan Scott Ridgway, 25, on suspicion of throwing and beating the child. Ridgway was the boyfriend of the child's mother at the time.

Grandview police said another defendant is awaiting trial in the case. The two-year-old victim is now in the custody of his biological father in Idaho.
