Girl Scout cookie lovers can prepare to take delight. The annual Girl Scout cookie sales drive will begin on Friday, Feb. 8.
Girl Scouts from throughout the region will be paying a visit to your home, place of business and wherever else they might find you. They will be asking you to submit a cookie order to help with the annual fundraising event.
When Girl Scouts participate in cookie sales they learn to set goals, make decisions and manage money, which helps develop social skills and business ethics.
Each Girl Scout troop sets a goal for this fundraising activity. They may be planning a special outing for which the funds are being raised.
A basic business plan is developed when the youngsters decide when and where they will sell the yummy treats, such as Thin Mints, Tagalongs and Samoas.
The youngsters must develop a budget, take orders, handle the money exchange with customers and learn practical life skills.
When selling the cookies the girls also learn to market their products, engage in conversations with customers and work with people of various backgrounds.
Flavors also being sold include Trefoils, Do-si-dos and Savannah Smiles. Each box will cost just $4 and pre-orders will be taken Feb. 8-23.
Cookies will be delivered to customers beginning March 22, and cookies will be available for purchase at retail outlets throughout the Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho region on that date.
