MABTON - Mabton city water users are facing a water shortage after city officials learned of a pump failure early this morning (Thursday). "Mabton well #4 has failed, causing a drastic reduction in the city's water supply," said Mayor Vera Zavala. Zavala has issued an emergency reduction of water usage, which she said will be in effect until further notice. She expects the water restrictions will be in effect for several weeks until repairs can be made. Meanwhile, Mabton resident are asked to observe the following water use restrictions: - Even number addresses may irrigate only on days with an even numbered date. - Odd number addresses may irrigate only on days with an odd numbered date. - No automobile washing is to be done with city water. - And residents are asked to minimize all outdoor water usage. "Please limit your water usage wherever possible," urged Zavala.
