Prison time for Grandview man

YAKIMA - Alejandro Guadalupe Martinez of Grandview has been sentenced to just more than 19 years in prison for the murder of Mariano Cuevas in 2011. Cuevas, who was 18 at the time he died, was shot in the head on Dec. 3, 2011 near Smith Elementary School in Grandview. At the time of the incident a Grandview High School drama program was being staged at the elementary school. Martinez, who was 19 at the time, was arrested two days later. He pled guilty to the murder earlier this year. Martinez was sentenced to 171.5 months in prison with a weapon enhancement sentence of 60 months.
