Currier top golfer in ladies competition

Playing under a scorching, sun-soaked sky, Maryanne Currier of Prosser sizzled on the links this past Tuesday in 18-hole ladies play at Black Rock Creek Golf Course. Play of the day was to post the low gross score on the front nine at the Sunnyside-area course. Currier accomplished that feat by carding a 47. "It was very hot out on the golf course," said Black Rock Creek Women's Golf Association spokesman Wanda Stokes. She commended the male golfers on the course who allowed the ladies group to play through. "It was very much appreciated by all the women who played. "I think everyone was hurrying as fast as they could to get where it was cooler," she added. Besides Currier posting the lowest front nine score, the only other highlights that came out of Tuesday's play were a pair of chip-in shots chalked up by Sunnyside's Lucille Rohman. She drained the two chip-in shots on holes 13 and 18.
