Yakima County Sheriff deputies have started the investigation into a shooting in the 300 block of South Outlook Road reported at about 3 a.m. yesterday morning (Sunday). Officers from Granger, Grandview, Sunnyside and Mabton police departments, as well as the Washington State Patrol responded to the report and discovered four victims with gunshot wounds at the scene. The victims are said to all reside in Mattawa and had attended a party on South Outlook Road. As the victims walked to their vehicle after the party they claimed they were confronted by an unknown Hispanic male who exchanged gang slurs with them before producing a pistol and firing several rounds. The suspect fled before law enforcement arrived and is still at large. He is described as having no facial hair, possibly bald and of average build. The victims reported he was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. The victims, aged 14, 16, 17 and 19, were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The victims are also of Hispanic origin, according to deputies, who are not releasing their names at this time. Deputies were also on hand at a fire last Thursday night in the 1200 block of Northwest Crescent Avenue near Sunnyside to assist fire personnel and conduct traffic control. Deputies are also investigating two reports of vehicle thefts made over the weekend, one this past Saturday night and the other yesterday afternoon. Since Thursday morning deputies have also responded to nine automatic alarms, six reports of traffic problems, two reports of runaway juveniles, five noise complaints, a livestock incident, a report of threats, a report of domestic issues, three animal problems, a juvenile problem, an emergency medical call and a citizen dispute. In that time deputies also provided assistance to citizens twice, conducted a welfare check, investigated five reports of suspicious activity and recovered a stolen vehicle.
