Rosalio Alvarado, 72, of Mabton passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Yakima Regional Hospital in Yakima. He joins his parents and siblings with our heavenly Savior.

Rosalio was born Nov. 14, 1940 in Muzquit Coahuila, Mexico to Rosalio and Dolores Alvarado.

Rosalio married the love of his life, Maria on Oct. 18, 1969. They had two children and seven stepchildren that he loved deeply.

Rosalio enjoyed anything that had to do with the outdoors, whether it was chopping wood to crabbing along the coast. If he was not outside, you would find him and his wife traveling from casino to casino.

Rosalio valued his family and saw them as his pride and joy.

He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Maria; nine children, Mary (aka. Lola) Alvarado of Grandview, Javier (Victoria) Alvarado of Wapato, Jose (Rachel) Sanchez Sr. of Kennewick, Savas (Ophelia) Sanchez Jr. of Caldwell, Idaho, Beatriz (Rojelio) Campos of Mabton, Rosita Basulto of Greenbay, Wisc., Rene Sanchez of Billings, Mont., Mary (Gasper) Cervantes and Irene Inga, both of Nampa, Idaho; brothers, Candelario (Rosa) Alvarado and Juan Alvarado, both of Mabton, and Delifino (Vicki) Alvarado of Ferndale; one sister, Dolores Soltero of Moses Lake; numerous nieces and nephews; 38 grandkids; 66 great-grandkids; two great-great-grandkids; and good friend, Pepe Rodriguez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosalio and Dolores Alvarado; two brothers, Thomas and Antonio Alvarado; and one sister, Pola Villegas.

The family would like to give a special "thank you" to Dr. Brady and his wonderful staff, Memorial Hospital Infusion Care and Yakima Regional Hospital for the great care for our papi.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2013, from 2 to 8 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, with burial to follow at Mabton Cemetery.
