Sunnyside's Lucille Rohman claimed top honors in Black Rock Creek 18-hole ladies play this past Tuesday.
Play of the day was to count the scores on the holes starting with either a 'T' or an 'F', and applying one-half of each golfers' handicap to come up with an adjusted net total.
For the nine holes that came into play, Rohman notched a handicap-aided, net score of 27.5.
Finishing a distant second was Carol Monholland of Sunnyside with a net-33. Donna Kroger and Wanda Stokes, both of Sunnyside, placed third and fourth, respectively, with scores of 35 and 37.
In a separate side game contest that only brought the holes starting with a 'T' or an 'F' on the back nine into play, Elva Mattocks of Grandview bested the field with a score of 16.
Personal highlights this past Tuesday included Grandview's Marilyn McGann picking up the lone birdie on the day, that coming on the par-4, 10th hole. McGann also had one of the two chip-in shots that were recorded, on No. 9. Stokes also chipped the ball into the cup from off the green, also occurring on No. 9.
The Black Rock Creek 18-hole ladies group holds weekly competitions each Tuesday morning, starting at 9 a.m. Stokes, the spokesman for the group, said all Lower Yakima Valley women, of all skill levels, are encouraged to show up to play at the Sunnyside-area course.
