Terrified homeowner hides in bathroom during burglary

A burglary in progress was reported to Yakima County Sheriff deputies from the 2300 block of Phipps Road near Sunnyside last Friday morning. The female victim in the house hid in a bathroom until law enforcement units arrived and arrested two suspects. Medical attention was summoned for the victim, who was described by officers on the scene as "very shaken up."

Deputies also responded this past Saturday morning to a report of an unconscious man in a pasture in the 1600 block of Hudson Road near Granger. The man was found to have a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Memorial Hospital. Further information on the incident was not available.

Deputies have also received reports of five other thefts and another burglary since Friday morning.

Also since last Friday morning deputies have responded to four automatic alarms, a report of a stray dog, two reports of livestock in the road, two reports of juvenile problems, four reports of suspicious activity, three reports of domestic problems, two reports of traffic hazards, a report of harassment, a report of assault, a report of an abandoned vehicle, a report of trespassing, a report of gun shots, a request for a welfare check and a report of a civil problem.

In that time deputies have also recovered a stolen vehicle, provided assistance to a citizen and assisted Mabton police in a burglary investigation.
