"Bigger than ever." That's how Sunnyside High School FFA advisor Ryan Kannely describes the annual spring plant sale that will be taking place this coming Friday and Saturday.
With 200 or so hanging flower baskets up for sale, as well as countless annuals, perennials and vegetable starts for the taking, Kannely is probably right on target with his description.
Outdoor yard care enthusiasts, as well as those with green thumbs who enjoy tending family gardens need only trek down to the local high school this Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, to get a head start on creating the landscapes they desire.
Sunnyside FFA chapter members have been busy tending the plants, choosing and growing the varieties that have proved extremely popular among local residents.
Plant sale hours will be from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The site for the sale will be the greenhouse area at the high school, located adjacent and slightly behind the main campus building.
In conjunction with this year's plant sale, Sunnyside's auto shop students will be providing free safety checks on the vehicles of those customers who purchase plants.
