Dorothy M Schaneman, 90, of Spokane and a former Sunnyside resident, joined her heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

She was born May 2, 1922 in Woodinville to Joseph and Lily George. She grew up as one of seven children and graduated from Bothell High School.

Dorothy lived most of her adult life in Sunnyside. She worked as a bookkeeper at Andrus and Roberts Produce Co., raised five children, farmed and cared for many animals.

She loved to dance, bake, garden, go fishing, play cards, bingo and spending time with friends and family. Her house was often full of people and good food.

She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Sunnyside Church of God.

She moved to Spokane in 2007 to be close to her daughter when her health began to diminish.

Dorothy is survived and will be missed by one sister, Betty George; one brother, Robert George; two daughters, Julie (Schaneman) Jessop and Dianne (Larson) Dhaenens; two sons, Gene Schaneman and Raymond Schaneman; and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Schaneman; two brothers, Jack George and Joe George; two sisters, Lois Nelson and Rose Weiss; and one son, Douglas Larson.

Gravesite services will be held Friday, May 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens followed by a gathering at Sunnyside VFW Hall.

Those wishing to honor Dorothy's memory may contribute to the Sunnyside VFW Ladies Auxilary.

Spokane Cremation and Funeral Services in Spokane is in charge of arrangements.
