Private Bustamante completes combat training

Army National Guard Pvt. Joaquin Bustamante recently graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During his nine weeks of training, Bustamante studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness. The young private also received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat. His studies also included map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

A 2012 graduate of Sunnyside High School, Bustamante is the son of Jovita Uriostegui and Joaquin Bustamante, both of Sunnyside.
