Sunnyside burglar lands 8-month jail sentence, $1,825 fine

Sunnyside resident Juan G. Pina, 32, pled guilty to second degree burglary and second degree possession of stolen property related to his arrest in Grandview on April 2.

Pina has been sentenced to eight months in jail with credit for time served to be determined. He has also been fined $1,825 for restitution and court costs.

On April 2 a Grandview police officer pulled over a vehicle occupied by Pina and driven by Troy Mears, 48, of Grandview. Pina was the suspect in the theft of a trailer from the Grandview School District maintenance shop and had a warrant for criminal trespass.

The vehicle was pulling a trailer containing a large mowing tractor, valued at thousands of dollars. The tractor, unlike the trailer, had been stolen during a burglary at the YVCC maintenance shop on March 30.
