Musical tryouts slated May 21

GRANDVIEW - Allegro Children's Theatre is holding tryouts for its summer musical, "Jailhouse Rock" on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m.

Tryouts will be held at Bock Auditorium at the Grandview Seventh Day Adventist Church (106 N. Elm St.). Children from age 6 to 16 are invited to audition for a variety of available parts. Some adult parts are also available.

The musical is about a group of children attending a summer camp who begin to feel locked up during a thunderstorm but learn they can have true freedom in Jesus Christ.

All children trying out must be accompanied by a parent due to liability issues. Children should bring a song to share and be ready to read from a script.

The tryouts are free, but if a child is cast in a part there is a $30 fee (or $50 for a family) to help defray the costs of props and costumes. Actors will also need to provide their own stage make-up.

Technical help and assistant directors are also needed.
