Burglary suspect detained, sightings of cougars reported

A residential burglary reported just after noon yesterday (Thursday) resulted in the alleged burglar being detained by Sunnyside police. The incident reportedly occurred in the 1200 block of South Sixth Street. The thief was identified by a witness, who also identified the alleged suspect's vehicle. Police took the unidentified suspect into custody.

Topping the animal complaints during the past 24 hours was a sighting of cougars north of town. The cats were nowhere in sight when police patrolled the area near the 900 block of North 16th Street.

Police officers also issued two citations for driving while license suspended, and investigated three non-injury accidents.

In other police activity the officers responded to two alarm calls, three juvenile problems and fielded four informational calls.
