Moore makes breaststroke finals at State

FEDERAL WAY - Sunnyside High School’s Cassadie Moore qualified for the 3A State finals in the breaststroke competition this past Saturday at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.

According to Sunnyside High School coach Carl Scott, Moore ended the season with a lifetime best clocking in the 100-yard breast. The Lady Grizzly, who last year finished among the State’s top 16 swimmers, turned in a time of 1:07.35 to place 8th in the finals.

Moore bettered her preliminary State meet time of 1:07.78, clocked last Friday, by just over four-tenths of a second in Saturday’s finals.

The winner of the 100-yard breaststroke proved to be Kim Williams of Bellevue, who clocked a time of 1:03.86.

Competing in the girls 200-yard medley relay preliminary round last Friday, Moore, along with teammates Kalie Bestebreur, Payton Sample and Summer Hazzard, turned in a time of 2:01.73, which was good for 21st place.

Scott said the relay squad’s time was the best they had turned in all year.
