Sunnyside cops investigate shots fired call

Sunnyside police last night (Monday) just after 8 p.m. received a shots-fired call, as well as a suspicious activity call that were related. The calls were made from the 300 block of Columbia Avenue and the 600 block of South Fourth Street. Police patrolling the area said fireworks were observed being discharged near Central Park.

Three thefts and a burglary were also reported yesterday to Sunnyside police. A stereo, speakers and a vehicle were reported stolen from a location in the 600 block of East Edison Avenue. Officers investigating the burglary indicated a sliding door may have been the entry point. A gas can and other miscellaneous items were reported stolen from a fenced yard in the 1400 block of Denson Avenue, a purse was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1400 block of South Sixth Street and a cell phone was reported stolen at a business in the 2300 block of Reith Way.

Officers have also investigated an automatic alarm, four animal complaints, a report of fraudulent activity, two juvenile problems, three suspicious activity calls and a reported sex crime.

Sunnyside police, too, served one warrant, as well as provided three citizens with assistance and four welfare checks.
