Dallas firm to provide county inmate phone services

YAKIMA – Yakima County commissioners yesterday (Tuesday) approved a contract with Securus Technologies of Dallas, Tex. for inmate telephone services.

The three-year contract will be for 106 inmate phones.

The phones will have the ability to be monitored and recorded. Inmates will receive a PIN code for use of the phones.

In the contract, Securus Technologies agrees to provide pro bono calling services for immigration and customs enforcement detainees.

Yakima County will receive a commission of approximately 58 percent on all gross revenue generated by the telephone system.

A local surcharge of $1 will be assessed for all phone calls. Long distance calls will cost $1.50 per minute, and each call will cost 10 cents per minute after being connected.
