Stolen car found burned

A Sunnyside man, who reported his car missing to Sunnyside police early Wednesday morning, has learned his car has been recovered.

Unfortunately, according to Sunnyside police, the 2000 blue Honda Civic, which was recovered in the Mabton area, had been destroyed by fire.

The car was discovered by Yakima County Sheriff Deputies at about 5:45 a.m. this morning. They reported the keys were not found with the car.

The victim reported that his car had apparently been taken sometime last night.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Sunnyside Police Department at 836-6200.

Sunnyside police are also investigating the report of truck and trailer reported missing from a construction site in the 400 block of Barnard Boulevard. The truck and trailer, believed to have been filled with tools and equipment, was reported missing just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the theft contact the department.

In other activity, police responded to a report of a residential alarm, one animal complaint, one report of fraud, one juvenile problem and one report of graffiti.

Police also investigated a report of shots fired, three suspicious circumstances, two non-injury accidents and made one traffic stop during the past 24 hours.

Police also served one arrest warrant.
