Yearbook returning to Mabton

MABTON – It has been a number of years since students at Mabton Junior/Senior High School have had yearbooks, according to Principal Caleb Oten.

At Monday’s Mabton School Board meeting he told the school board directors that Mabton High School teacher Lisa Gorman is working with a group of students to form a yearbook club. That club, said Oten, will take photographs and is seeking to purchase software to design a yearbook.

“I believe yearbooks are an important part of the (high school) experience,” he said, stating there are a number of technical skills that can be developed when working on a yearbook.

Oten said the club will put together a yearbook for students to purchase. “It won’t be a big volume, but I believe it is important to get it started at a reasonable price.”

The Mabton School Board approved the yearbook club by a 3-0 vote.
