Arboretum hosts luminaria Dec. 13-14

YAKIMA – A luminaria event at the Yakima Area Arboretum is being planned for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14.

Visitors can enjoy one of the largest candle-lit walks in the Pacific Northwest, taking in the majestic scenery available at the arboretum. More than 1,000 candles will line a mile-long pathway through the wintry landscape, and the arboretum’s Carillon Bell Tour in the Japanese Garden is sure to be a delight.

Steaming cups of cocoa, coffee, apple cider and tasty treats provided at the Jewett Interpretive Center are sure to warm up visitors enjoying the event.

Local artists will provide live music, children’s craft activities and shopping in the Tree House Gift Shop will also bring cheer to the evening.

The luminaria event, free to the public, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.
