Sheriff’s office helping cities

YAKIMA – The Yakima County commissioners this past Tuesday approved agreements with the cities of Mabton and Granger, authorizing the Yakima County Sheriff’s office to provide communications for law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office will provide telephone and radio communication, as well as access to services for the cities when the cities have no law enforcement radio personnel on duty.

Each of the cities will reimburse the sheriff’s office for the service at the cost of approximately $19,000 annually.

The agreements will expire on Dec. 31, 2014.
