Dinner, dance fundraiser scheduled for this Friday

Friends and co-workers of the late Ramiro Valencia will host a benefit dinner and dance Friday, Oct. 4, at the Forum, 1818 Morgan Road, Sunnyside.

The 21-year-old Sunnyside man died on Sept. 22, as a result of injuries sustained in a skateboarding accident. The proceeds from the dinner and dance will be donated to his family to help with medical costs, said Jessica Verduzco, a friend, co-worker and the event organizer.

Verduzco said Valencia’s Bur-ger King co-workers and friends are helping to plan the dinner, which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. The dance will follow.

“We’re calling the event Team Ramiro,” Verduzco said. She said helping to organize the event are Carla, Laura, Veronica and Claudia Perez and her sister, Marisol Verduzco.

Cost to attend is $10 per person or $25 for a family.

While food and materials have been donated for the fundraiser, individuals who want to help can call Verduzco at 305-3207.
