Zillah JV no match for SCHS varsity

Girls Prep Volleyball

ZILLAH – The Sunnyside Christian Lady Knights varsity took on the Zillah JV squad in Zillah last night and emerged with a victory in three sets, 25-18, 25-6, 25-23.

“We struggled to play Knight volleyball tonight but I was happy that we were able to fight for the win in three,” said Lady Knight Coach Stephanie Dalrymple. “We stayed aggressive at the service line and attack line, which helped us a lot.”

Annie Brouwer led the Lady Knights with an 18-for-18 performance from the service line. She was also credited with 14 perfect passes. Katelyn Banks was also perfect serving, going 13-for-13. Banks also slammed four kills for Sunnyside Christian.

Lady Knight McKenzie Benjert provided 12 assists and was 14-for-16 from the service line. Kate Newhouse dug up the ball eight times and made eight perfect passes.

Sunnyside Christian’s Aydan Harrington tallied nine assists and also kept the side alive with seven digs. Brittany Broersma conquered at the net with eight kills.

Tonight, Oct. 8, the Lady Knights (3-0, 7-0) will host Trout Lake. The 1B league match will also be a fundraiser to help fight breast cancer.
